Meeting called to order: 7:00 pm
Invocation: Gary Thompson
The chair entertained a motion from council member Gary Thompson the council accept the published agenda. Council member Duane Peterson seconded the motion. All were in favor and the motion carried the council.
Minutes from the May 2011 council meeting were read. Council member Ada DeClark corrected the minutes as follows: the 250 ft of sidewalk would cost approximately $2500.00 to $3,000.00. The chair entertained a motion from council member Ada DeClark the council approve the minutes as read with the noted correction. Council member Gary Thompson seconded the motion. All were in favor and the motion carried the council.
Paul Miller brought before the council a building permit for a storage building to be built on his property. He also presented the council with a variance in conjunction with the permit. He would like to move his building closer to the fence line than is allotted in the zoning ordinance. He has presented signatures from the neighbors. The council discussed the issue with Paul. The chair entertained a motion from council member Gary Thompson the council accept and approve the variance for Paul Miller to move his building closer to the fence line than is allowed in the present zoning ordinance. Council member Duane Peterson seconded the motion. A roll call vote was taken and is as follows: Joe – yes, Duane – yes, Ada – yes, Gary – yes. All were in favor and the motion carried the council. The council discussed the surplus items the city has. The chair entertained a motion from council member Ada DeClark the council declare the following city property items surplus: Wizard Lawn Mower, 1992 Ford F-250 Pickup, 2000 Ford Crown Victoria. Council member Duane Peterson seconded the motion. A roll call vote was taken and is as follows: Joe – yes, Duane – yes, Ada – yes, Gary – yes. All were in favor and the motion carried the council. The chair entertained a motion from council member Joe DeClark the City will sell to the highest bidder at a silent auction during the Twin Creeks Celebration on 9 July 2011 the surplus property items. Council member Ada DeClark seconded the motion. A roll call vote was taken and is as follows: Joe – yes, Duane – yes, Ada – yes, Gary – yes. All were in favor and the motion carried the council. Mike Jaglowski reviewed with the council the updates for the wastewater project. The study has been approved by DEQ and an archeological study needs to be done on the proposed property to be purchased for the land application process. The chair entertained a motion from council member Ada DeClark the council approve Randy Thomas to perform the archaeological study providing Mr. Thomas is less than the $3200.00 that has been preciously bid. Council member Joe Declark seconded the motion. A roll call vote was taken and is as follows: Joe – yes, Duane – yes, Ada – yes, Gary – yes. All were in favor and the motion carried the council. Resolution #002-2011 was read to the council. The chair entertained a motion from council member Joe Declark the council approve Resolution 002-2011 which states a $35.00 fee will be imposed on citizens who want their water services turned off or on. The fee will not be collected in emergency situations or for maintenance purposes. Council member Duane Peterson seconded the motion. A roll call vote was taken and is as follows: Joe – yes, Duane – yes, Ada – yes, Gary – yes. All were in favor and the motion carried the council. The chair entertained a motion from council member Joe DeClark the council approve the address change for the following property: 131 W. 7th St. to 145 W. 7th St. in the City limits of Georgetown. Council member Duane Peterson seconded the motion. A a roll call vote was taken and is as follows: Joe – yes, Duane – yes, Ada – yes, Gary – yes. All were in favor and the motion carried the council. Council member Joe DeClark discussed the employee policy draft with the council. The chair entertained a motion from council member Duane Peterson the council accept the employee policy draft. Council member Gary Thompson seconded the motion. A roll call vote was taken and is as follows: Joe – yes, Duane – yes, Ada – yes, Gary – yes. All were in favor and the motion carried the council.
Police Report: Due to Officer Skinners skirmish with a cow, there was not a police report.
Maintenance Report: Doug readied the cemetery for Memorial Day, took samples for the sewer and water departments, sent the EPA letter, testing on the lagoons is coming back good, mowed and trimmed park and cemetery, performed maintenance on city equipment, the chair entertained a motion from council member Ada DeClark the council approve payment for 2 weeks vacation for Doug. Council member Joe DeClark seconded the motion. A roll call vote was taken and is as follows: Joe – yes, Duane – yes, Ada – yes, Gary – yes. All were in favor and the motion carried the council.
The chair entertained a motion from council member Duane Peterson the council approve checks and vouchers for the month of May 2011 in the amount of $12,977.40 in the general fund, $5,654.237 in the water fund, $ 13,316,54 in the sewer fund with all funds totaling $31,948.21. Council member Ada Declark seconded the motion. All were in favor and the motion carried the council.
At 9:10 pm, the chair entertained a motion from council member Gary Thompson the council adjourn from the June 2011 council meeting. Council member Ada DeClark seconded the motion. All were in favor and the motion carried the council.
