RESOLUTION #2022-01

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN ESTABLISHING A FEE FOR UTILITY SERVICES SHUT OFF AND ON FOR DELINQUENT ACCOUNTS. IN THE AMOUNT OF $50.00 SHUT OFF AND ANOTHER $50.00 WHEN TURNED BACK ON WHEN SERVICES ARE SHUT OFF FOR DELINQUENCY. FOR ALL RESIDENCE LOCATIONS HOOKED UP TO CITY UTILITY SERVICES AS APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN:

Whereas, the City Council of the City of Georgetown did pass and approve a fee for the implementation of a utility service fee in the amount of $50.00 for turning off and an additional $50.00 for turning back on utility services due to delinquency at all locations hooked up to the city utility services.

Whereas, the City Council did hold a public hearing on September 6, 2022 at 382 Main Street in Georgetown, Idaho to take public comments on the proposed utility service fees. After hearing public comment, the City Council did determine the utility fee to be a necessary means to offset expenses incurred while utility services are being turned off and on by the maintenance department for delinquent users.

Whereas, on September 6, 2022, during the published City Council meeting, motion was made and unanimously approved by the City Council to designate a fee of $50.00 for turning off water services and $50.00 for turning back on water services at all locations hooked up to City utility services.

Whereas, said fees will not be required of property owners who are doing maintenance work on water and sewer lines nor will it be required in emergency shut off or turn on situations. This fee only pertains to delinquent accounts.

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Georgetown, Idaho the approved fee schedule for a delinquent utility turn off is $50.00 and an additional $50.00 to turn services back on. Said fee schedule shall become effective October 5, 2022 as per approval of the City Council at their October 5, 2022 council meeting.
