Ordinance #8: Dog License (and Amendment)
ORDINANCE #8
AN ORDINANCE RELATING TO THE TAXING OF DOGS AND THEIR PROTECTION.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Chairman and Board of the Village of Georgetown, Idaho.
SECTION I
That it shall be unlawful for any dog or bitch to run at large within the corporate limits of the Village of Georgetown without the owner first obtaining a license for such dog or bitch.
SECTION II
That every owner of a dog or bitch is hereby required to secure about the neck or such dog or bitch a collar of leather or metal with a license tag to be secured from the Village police attached thereto or in lieu thereof to deliver up such dog or bitch to the Village police.
SECTION III
That the license required to be paid for such dog or bitch is hereby affixed at the sum of $1.00 for every male dog and the sum of $1.00 for every female dog, such license to be payable yearly.
SECTION IV
That no bitch in time of heat, no habitually vicious or mad dogs shall be permitted to run at large within the corporate limits of the Village of Georgetown and it shall be lawful for any person to kill any such bitch in heat, or mad or habitually vicious dog running at large, whether wearing a collar duly numbered or not, and the owner or owners of any such bitch in heat, allowing the same to run at large shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and shall upon conviction thereof, be fined in a sum not to exceed $100.00 and costs of suit, or be imprisoned until such fine and costs be paid, at the rate of $2.00 per day.
SECTION V
That it shall be the duty of the Police to seize and for the space of twenty four hours hold all dogs or bitches hereafter found to be running at large within the corporate limits of the Village of Georgetown, that are without owners or known claimants, or that do not wear a collar and license tag, as required by Section hereof. It shall further be the duty of the police to seize and hold for the space of forty-eight hours all dogs or bitches wearing collars, as required by Section II hereof, in all cases where the collar shows the license to have expired, and shall notify the owner of such dog or bitch if the owner be known, and he shall in such cases collect the required license. In all cases of dogs or bitches without owners, or dogs or bitches wearing collars as required, and remaining unclaimed after due and required notice has been given, the police shall kill or otherwise dispose of such dogs or bitches.
SECTION VI
That any person or persons refusing or neglecting to take out a license for or deliver up to the Village police such dog or bitch as required by this ordinance, when notified to do so by the police, shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction shall be fined a sum not exceeding $100.00, and costs of suit, or be imprisoned in the Village jail until such fine and costs be paid, at the rate of $2.00 per day.
SECTION VII
That any person except the owner who shall remove from any dog the license tag, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and punishable with a fine of not exceeding $100.00.

AMENDMENT TO ORDAINED #8 SECTION III
SETTING FORTH THE LICENSE FEE REQUIRED FOR ALL DOGS RUNNING AT LARGE WITHIN THE LIMITS OF THE VILLAGE OF GEORGETOWN.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Chairman and Board of Trustees of the Village of Georgetown, Idaho, that Section III of Ordinance #8 be amended to read as follows, to-wit:
That the license required to be paid for such dog or bitch is hereby fixed at the sum of $3.00 for every male dog, the sum of $10.00 for every female dog, except spayed females which shall be the sum of $3.00 such license to be payable yearly.

SECTION VI
That any person except the owner who shall remove from any dog the license tag, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and punishable with a fine of not exceeding $100.00.
SECTION VII
Setting forth the license fee required for all dogs within the limits of the City of Georgetown.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Chairman and Board of Trustees of the City of Georgetown, Idaho that Section VII ordinance #8 be amended to read as follows, to-wit:
That the license required to be paid for such dog or bitch is hereby fixed at the sum of $3.00 for every male dog, and the sum of $6.00 for every female dog, except spayed females which shall be the sum of $3,.00, such license to be payable yearly.
