Ordinance #18: Sidewalks

ORDINANCE #18

AN ORDINANCE DIRECTING THE CONSTRUCTION OF CONCRETE OR CEMENT SIDEWALKS WITHIN PRESCRIBED AREAS IN THE VILLAGE OF GEORGETOWN.  THE COST AND EXPENSE OF SAME TO BE A LIEN ON ABUTTING AND CONTIGUOUS PROPERTY, AND PROVIDING FOR THE VILLAGE TO CONSTRUCT SAME UPON FAILURE OF ABUTTING OWNERS TO COMPLY WITH THIS ORDINANCE.

BE IT ORDAINED by the Chairman and Board of Trustees of the Village of Georgetown, Idaho:–

SECTION I

That cement or concrete sidewalks be constructed within the Village of Georgetown along the following named streets;  On the west side of main street between Third and Fifth streets.

SECTION II

That said sidewalk be four feet in width and not less than four inches thick.

SECTION III

That the Village of Georgetown pay for necessary cement used and supervise the construction of the work; that the owners of property along or in front of which sidewalks are hereby ordered constructed, haul cement and furnish and supply gravel and sand and necessary help to construct walks.

SECTION IV

That all of said sidewalks shall be completed on or before 8th day of September, 1923, and upon failure or refusal of any abutting owner, along or in front of whose property walks are ordered, to construct same within prescribed time in this ordinance, the Village shall construct same and the cost and expense thereof shall be a lien against the property.

Whereas an emergency exists it is ordered that this ordinance be in full force and effect from and after its passage.
All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict with this ordinance are hereby repealed.
